NCPC launches 3rd Int’l Conference, NCP Awards

The National Cleaner Production Centre (NCPC), Sri Lanka officially launched the third International Conference on Resource Efficiency and Circular Economy and NCP Awards 2025, at a press briefing held at Cinnamon Lakeside, Colombo. 

The two flagship events, which are being organised in collaboration with the Industry and Entrepreneurship Development Ministry, will take place on November 6, 2025, at Cinnamon Lakeside, Colombo. 

The aim is to strengthen the transition of Sri Lanka towards a resource-efficient, low-carbon and circular economy.

The chief guest and Industry and Entrepreneurship Development Ministry Secretary Thilaka Jayasundara mentioned that cleaner production is a strategic path towards sustainability, competitiveness and resilience.  

NCPC Chairman Gamini Gunasekera noted that the conference is timely and essential for knowledge exchange and building industry capacity.  

CEO Samantha Kumarasena highlighted the significance of participating international experts at the conference, who will bring cutting-edge knowledge and proven strategies from around the world to benefit Sri Lankan industries. 

Participants would not only gain insights through keynote presentations but also have the rare opportunity to engage directly with those global resource persons during the parallel roundtable sessions. The sessions would cover vital areas: energy and greenhouse gas management, sustainable consumption and production, circular economy and waste management and chemicals management.

NCP Awards 2025 will reward outstanding organisations demonstrating excellence in environmental sustainability and cleaner production practices. Awards will be presented at Platinum, Gold, Silver, Bronze and Certificate of Merit levels. 

Former Moratuwa University Vice Chancellor Prof. Ananda Jayawardena, who will be chairing the panel of judges, explained the transparency of the stringent and independent selection process.
