The National Cleaner Production Centre (NCPC) of Sri Lanka announced its upcoming events in collaboration with the Industry and Entrepreneurship Development Ministry, viz, the third International Conference on ‘Resource Efficiency and Circular Economy’ and NCPC Awards 2025.
Both significant events are set to take place on November 6, 2025, at Cinnamon Lakeside Hotel in Colombo, with the conference scheduled for the day and the awards ceremony to follow in the evening.
As the country navigates its industrial landscape, this conference is timely, focusing on enhancing resource efficiency and promoting circular economy practices crucial for sustainable growth. The NCPC, as a leader in sustainability services in Sri Lanka, is committed to fostering an environment where industries can thrive through resource optimisation and sustainable business strategies.
The conference will feature a line-up of esteemed international speakers from Asia and Europe, renowned for their expertise and innovative approaches in sustainability. Their participation will not only elevate the conference’s value but also provide local businesses access to global best practices and transformative ideas.
NCPC CEO Samantha Kumarasena emphasised the growing trend among Sri Lankan industrialists towards adopting cleaner production techniques to achieve their sustainability goals.
“As the National Cleaner Production Centre of Sri Lanka, we are optimistic about this move and have initiated an awards scheme to identify and reward local industries that excel in cleaner production practices,” he stated.
Kumarasena further mentioned that the NCPC Awards Programme, initiated in 2007 as an annual event, aims to recognise the efforts of industries striving for sustainability. Similarly, the first international conference was held in 2020 to gain more exposure to the global trends in the face of sustainability models. However, both events couldn’t be continued after January 2022, due to the COVID-19 pandemic and subsequent socioeconomic and political challenges prevailed in the country. With the current conducive business environment, the NCPC believes these events will provide significant value and motivation for local industries.
In conclusion, he added that the third International Conference on Resource Efficiency and Circular Economy and NCPC Awards 2025 would be landmark events for Sri Lanka’s industrial sector. They aim to advance the understanding and implementation of sustainability practices, ensuring that Sri Lankan businesses are well-aligned with global sustainability standards.
