McLarens Maritime Academy (MMA) held their Convocation of 2025 at BMICH. It was a well-attended event to recognize the achievements of future seafarers who successfully completed their training programs who are preparing to enter the global maritime industry.
Asanga Deshapriya, Director General of Merchant Shipping from the Merchant Shipping Secretariat, Sri Lanka, graced the ceremony as the Chief Guest while Captain Nirmal Silva, Harbor Master of the Sri Lanka Ports Authority and Mrs. Shehara De Silva, Group Managing Director of McLarens Group, added colour to the event as the VVIP Guests.
Certificates were awarded to students who successfully completed the Navigation Officer Cadet Training Program – Phase I (Batch 3 and Batch 4), the Pre-Sea Training Course Deck Rating – Batch 8, and the Pre-Sea Training Course Engine Rating – Batch 2 and Batch 3. Outstanding students were also recognized during the Best Performance Awards ceremony.
Addressing the gathering, Chief Guest Asanga Deshapriya commended McLarens Maritime Academy for its contribution in developing skilled maritime professionals and strengthening Sri Lanka’s presence in the global maritime industry.
