Laugfs leaders recognised at 45 Under 45 CEO Forum Awards

Demonstrating this commitment, Group Executive Vice Chairman of Laugfs Holdings Limited, Mithila Wegapitiya, and Director / Cluster Chief Executive Officer of Laugfs Gas PLC, Niroshan J. Pieries, were recently recognised at the 45 Under 45 Leadership Excellence Platinum Award organised by the Global CEO Forum, in recognition of their outstanding contribution to leadership, innovation, and business excellence.

The internationally recognised awards programme celebrates exceptional business leaders, entrepreneurs, and corporate professionals under the age of 45 who have demonstrated strategic leadership, industry impact, and the ability to drive organisational growth and transformation.

A technology entrepreneur and innovation advocate, Wegapitiya has built an international career spanning Management & Finance, Global Marketing, Information Technology, and Digital Transformation. Over the past decade, he has worked with globally renowned organisations including Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, Deutsche Bank, Virtusa Corporation, and Ve Interactive, serving markets across Sri Lanka, the Asia-Pacific region, and the Americas.

Wegapitiya currently serves on several industry bodies including the Executive Committee of SLASSCOM’s Intelligent Automation Center of Excellence and the Board of FITIS, while also being the youngest board member of Sri Lanka CERT|CC, the national organisation responsible for cybersecurity and threat-response coordination.

Niroshan J Pieries, meanwhile, brings over two decades of professional experience across sectors including energy, lubricants, logistics, telecommunications, banking, insurance, and customer service. Having held several senior leadership positions within the Laugfs Group, he has played a pivotal role in driving business transformation, strategic leadership, operational excellence, and brand development across multiple business sectors.

In addition to his corporate responsibilities, Pieries contributes actively towards academia as a Senior Lecturer in Management and Leadership at several local and international institutions, supporting the development of future business professionals and emerging leaders.
