Laugfs Gas PLC has announced that proactive measures are being taken to restore normal liquefied petroleum gas distribution across the country in the coming days, following recent supply constraints in certain areas, according to a stock market filing.
The temporary shortage was primarily triggered during the transition period from a previous international supplier to a newly onboarded supplier.
During this interim transition phase, scheduling adjustments related to cargo arrivals negatively impacted distribution timelines. Adding to the transitional challenges, the company noted that its primary large-scale operations base, the Hambantota Terminal, could not be fully utilized for domestic market operations due to prevailing regulatory conditions.
However, the company highlighted that government authorities are currently extending support to facilitate the release and operationalisation of the Hambantota facility, aiming to strengthen national LPG supply stability.
Laugfs Gas Vice Chairman M.A. Wegapitiya formally expressed the company’s appreciation for the constructive engagement and cooperation received from the government in this regard.
