Lakmal Jayarathne appointed to MSEC board

M Power Capital Securities Limited (MSEC) announced the appointment of its Chief Executive Officer Lakmal Jayarathne to the Board of Directors effective 01st August 2025. 

This appointment reflects the firm’s remarkable growth under his leadership and underscores the pivotal role he has played in guiding MSEC to new heights.

Since assuming the role of Chief Executive Officer in April 2023, Lakmal has been instrumental in expanding MSEC’s services, strengthening its market presence and cultivating deeper relationships with corporate and high-net-worth individua clients. 

His strategic leadership has positioned the firm for sustainable long-term growth with enhanced capabilities in capital markets, structured finance, and advisory services, solidifying its niche position at the forefront of Sri Lanka’s financial services sector.

Over the past 3 years, MSEC has mobilized over Rs. 30 billion in corporate debt and is now licensed by The Securities and Exchange Commission of Sri Lanka as a Corporate Finance Advisor and an Investment Manager.                     

MSEC has also been approved as a Sponsor by the Colombo Stock Exchange of Sri Lanka to list small and medium enterprises (SMEs) on the Empower Board.

With over 20 years of experience in financial services, including his previous role as Assistant General ManagerTreasury at People’s Bank, Lakmal’s strategic insight and technical expertise have been vital to M Power Capital’s success. He holds an MBA from Federation University, Australia, and is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (FCMA, UK), as well as an Associate Member of CPA Australia and the Institute of Bankers of Sri Lanka.
