Indices closed in green as a result of price gains in counters such as Commercial Bank, Hatton National Bank and Sampath Bank with the turnover crossing Rs. 2.4 Bn. High net worth and institutional investor participation was noted in Bogala Graphite Lanka, John Keells Holdings and Sampath Bank. Mixed interest was observed in Hatton National Bank, Ceylon Cold Stores and LOLC Holdings whilst retail interest was noted in Lanka Credit and Business Finance, Alumex and HNB Finance Rights. Furthermore, foreigners closed as net buyers.
The Capital Goods sector was the top contributor to the market turnover (due to John Keells Holdings and Hayleys) whilst the sector index gained 1.16%. The share price of John Keells Holdings gained Rs 0.20 (0.98%) to close at Rs 20.70. The share price of Hayleys appreciated by Rs 3.50 (2.63%) to close at Rs 136.50.
The Banking sector was the second highest contributor to the market turnover (due to Sampath Bank and Hatton National Bank) whilst the sector index increased by 1.10%. The share price of Sampath Bank moved up by Rs 1.50 (1.27%) to close at Rs 120.00. The share price of Hatton National Bank recorded a gain of Rs 5.25 (1.73%) to close at Rs 308.75.
Bogala Graphite Lanka was also included amongst the top turnover contributors. The share price of Bogala Graphite Lanka increased by Rs 3.60 (6.86%) to close at Rs 56.10.
