Indians in Sri Lanka assist elders’ homes

Lanka IOC along with the Sri Lanka-India Society (SLIS) and Indian CEO forum (ICF) has started an initiative titled ‘Assistance to Elders Homes’.


The first of this was started by donating essentials to ‘Home of Compassion’, and the essentials were handed over to Rev. Sister Nilanthi and Sister Anne Mari under the patronage of Gopal Baglay, High Commissioner of India to Sri Lanka. Also present on the occasion were Managing Director of Lanka IOC Manoj Gupta, President of SLIS Kishore Reddy, President of ICF Prakash and 

members of the respective  organisations.
 “Considering the current economic situation, we have realised that most of the elders’ homes require assistance for even the basic essentials, and in order to address this not just once but regularly till the situation improves, the Indian groups and societies along with the Indian corporates thought of an initiative to assist elders at homes who need assistance,” said Kishore Reddy, President of the Sri Lanka India Society(SLIS). 


Reddy also said that since its formation in 1948, the SLIS which has both Indians and Sri Lankans as members have been working towards strengthening people to people relationships between both the countries.
Manoj Gupta said as a responsible corporate, LIOC will always be there to assist the society whenever needed and had assured to continue the CSR activities in their  endeavour of giving back to the society. He also said that in September 2022 too, LIOC contributed Rs. 200 million towards the President’s Fund. LIOC has also been regularly donating essential medicines and medical equipments to the various hospitals apart from other CSR activities from time-to-time.


“ICF and its member companies will always work towards not only improving the business relationships, but also assist Sri Lanka in the economic recovery” aid Mr Prakash – President of the ICF.


On this occasion, Gopal Baglay said that he was happy to see  the Indian corporates and organisations coming together to help Sri Lanka, and Government of  India has stood by Sri Lanka and assisted whenever it was required and shall continue to be  with the people of Sri Lanka as we all share the same values and culture. 
Rev Sister Nilanthi and Sister Anne Mari appreciated the assistance and thanked everyone present.
