IASL appoints 2025/26 office bearers

The Insurance Association of Sri Lanka (IASL), the official representative body of the country’s insurance industry, appointed its office bearers for the 2025/26 term.

The appointments of the office bearers were made at the Annual General Meeting held recently. Following this, the appointments of the subcommittee chairs were made during the IASL Executive Committee Meeting recently.

HNB Assurance CEO Lasitha Wimalaratne was appointed as President of the IASL. AIA Insurance CEO Chathuri Munaweera will serve as Vice President. Amana Takaful CEO S. Karthigun takes the role of Secretary, while Orient Insurance CEO Tanuj Edward assumes the role of Treasurer. J.M. Niyas remains as Secretary-General of the association.

The IASL Executive Committee and its subcommittees are united in their proactive approach to address the key industry priorities and emerging challenges. Among those spearheading these initiatives are Amana Takaful Head of Legal and Compliance Rushdi Zarook, who chairs the Legal Affairs Committee, Softlogic Life Senior General Manager National Distribution Roshan Peiris, who leads the Marketing and Sales Forum and Continental Insurance Chief Information Officer Nuwan Hettiararachi who heads the IT Subcommittee.

Ceylinco Life Assistant General Manager Actuarial Services Rishikulya Gunasekera chairs the Actuarial Subcommittee, while LOLC General Head of Underwriting Motor Dinusha Thilanka leads the General Insurance Forum. AIA Insurance Director HR Thushari Perera heads the HR Subcommittee. AIA Insurance Chief Financial Officer Sampath Thushara chairs the Finance and Technical Subcommittee and HNB Assurance Head of Life Operations Mahendra Wilegoda leads the Life Insurance Forum.
