HNB PLC welcomed the Sinhala and Tamil New Year with HNB ‘Singithi Jumbo’ to revive the nation’s savings culture.
The HNB Singithi Jumbo campaign will run throughout April and May, a period when the families traditionally visit relatives, exchange gifts and begin the new year with meaningful commitments.
HNB branches across the island welcome families during this period when the customers visit their neighbourhood branch with children to begin new financial journeys.
“During this Avurudu season, HNB encourages families to strengthen their children’s savings by gradually increasing contributions, creating a solid financial foundation for the years ahead. We continue to empower young Sri Lankans through school-based financial literacy programmes, teaching practical lessons in money management, savings and responsible financial decision-making. By combining consistent saving habits with engaging learning opportunities, we aim to inspire families and their children to start the year with optimism, discipline and a strong commitment to securing a brighter future for the next generation,” HNB Senior Vice President and Head of Retail Banking Kanchana Karunagama added.
Identifying the importance of building strong financial habits early in life, HNB is inspiring parents to start new minor savings accounts for their children or increase deposits in the existing accounts during the campaign period.
Deposits starting from Rs.2,500 up to Rs.1 million will be eligible for a range of attractive gifts and vouchers designed to reward disciplined saving while bringing joy to young account holders.
“In today’s uncertain global environment, building savings and financial security has become more important than ever for families. Recognising this, HNB Singithi Jumbo celebrates the Avurudu season by encouraging children to build strong saving habits in a joyful and meaningful way. The bank is offering special Avurudu gifts that reward consistent saving, helping families revisit their aspirations, strengthen financial discipline and guide the next generation toward lasting confidence and security,” said HNB Vice President Deposits Viranga Gamage.
