The Cabinet of Ministers this week cleared the path for the Trade Ministry to enter into foreign exchange agreements with selected suppliers, to procure essential consumer commodities for Lanka Sathosa Limited, under fixed prices, within the next three months.
The Cabinet of Ministers in late April approved a programme to procure essential consumer commodities for Lanka Sathosa Limited, under fixed prices, on future foreign exchange agreements.
Accordingly, the Cabinet of Ministers reached an agreement on Tuesday to allow the Trade Ministry to move ahead with the necessary actions to implement the programme by entering into foreign exchange agreements, with selected suppliers.
Meanwhile, Co-Cabinet Spokespersons Dullas Alahapperuma and Dr. Ramesh Pathriana yesterday said that the government hasn’t reached a final decision on granting price increases requested by milk power and LPG
importers.
