Sri Lanka’s premier gem and jewellery exhibition, FACETS Sri Lanka, has announced John Keells Properties as its official real estate partner for the 2026 showcase, launching a partnership built on a shared philosophy of “timeless legacies.”
Speaking at the announcement, leaders from both industries highlighted the powerful synergy between fine gems and premier real estate, arguing that both sectors represent permanence, long-term value, and a core part of Sri Lanka’s international identity.
“Real estate and jewellery, though distinct, are united by a common philosophy,” stated Sri Lanka Gem and Jewellery Association (SLGJA) President Akram Cassim. “They represent permanence, legacy, and the aspiration to create something that lasts beyond a single lifetime. At FACETS, we curate stories through rare gems and intricate designs. John Keells Properties curates spaces—world-class environments that inspire, uplift, and endure.”
This sentiment was echoed by the property developer. John Keells Properties Head of Sales & Marketing, Nadeem Shums described the partnership as a “natural connection.” He noted, “Both gems and real estate are built on long-term value. Both are passed through generations and both rely on integrity, credibility, and a commitment to excellence.”
Shums further articulated this shared identity, stating, “Real estate and jewelry have always represented more than luxury — they represent permanence. A gem and a home hold stories, values, and emotions that are passed down from one generation to the next.” Both speakers emphasised that this partnership strengthens the narrative for ‘Brand Sri Lanka’ on the global stage. Cassim noted the collaboration is vital for “elevating Sri Lanka’s gem and jewellery story on the world stage.” Shums added that both industries “have the unique ability to shape how the world sees Sri Lanka” and “help elevate Sri Lanka’s presence internationally.”
The partnership is further solidified by the choice of venue, The Forum at Cinnamon Life – City of Dreams, itself a flagship John Keells Properties development. Cassim described the venue, part of the largest integrated resort in South Asia, as one that “perfectly complements the partnership with its modernity, scale, and global ambitions.”
Visitors to the 2026 exhibition will see this synergy brought to life through “an immersive integration of refined living spaces and fine jewellery, both reflecting the very best of Sri Lanka,” Cassim said.
FACETS Sri Lanka, organised by the SLGJA, is South Asia’s premier international gem and jewellery exhibition. Since its inception in 1991, the show, now preparing for its 32nd edition, has become the flagship event for the industry. It is a critical platform for attracting international buyers, wholesalers, collectors, and designers to Colombo, showcasing the full “mine to market” story of Sri Lankan craftsmanship, especially its world-renowned Ceylon Sapphires.
The exhibition will be held from January 3rd to 5th, 2026, at Cinnamon Life. (NF)
