The Chamber of Commerce and Industry – Central Province successfully organised the ENRICH MSME Business Forum at Kandy Mist by Cinnamon to commemorate the World MSME Day.
The event brought together over 100 MSME organisations, including the directors and senior officials, for an enriching and insightful gathering.
The forum featured four thematic sessions focusing on human resource management, marketing, technology and talent and concluded with a business session. Each segment comprised a presentation by a subject matter expert, followed by a panel discussion featuring three distinguished panellists, including a leading entrepreneur from the region and a high-ranking government official.
The event was graced by the presence of Central Province Governor Sarath B.S. Abayakoon as the chief guest, Assistant High Commissioner of India Saranya V.S. as the guest of honour and University of Peradeniya Vice Chancellor Prof. Terrence Madhujith as the guest of honour. Chairman Deshamanya Jagath Dissanayake and the board of directors of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry also participated, making the occasion more significant.
In an interview, the chamber Project Chairman and Senior Vice Chairman Azam Ameer emphasised that the ultimate motive of the forum was to encourage and recognise the MSME sector in the region.
He stated, “The activities of the chamber are fully aligned with the growth and development of the MSMEs, facilitating their journey to evolve into future corporates of the country.”
Ameer also acknowledged the special contribution of the MSMEs to Sri Lanka’s gross domestic product.
The forum was conducted in strategic partnership with the Assistant High Commission of India and National Chamber of Commerce of Sri Lanka. The event was well received by delegates, with highly interactive sessions and active audience engagement, making it an impactful and memorable initiative for the MSME sector.
