Cinnamon Life celebrates a year that reimagined Colombo

A year ago, the skyline of Colombo changed forever. Rising along the Beira Lake, Cinnamon Life at City of Dreams, Sri Lanka opened its doors, not just as a hotel, but as a bold promise of what the city could become.

Twelve months later, that promise has come to life. Today, Cinnamon Life stands as a cultural heartbeat, a playground for dreamers, and a dazzling symbol of Sri Lanka’s hospitality renaissance.

What began as a destination has become an experience — a living, breathing celebration of the city’s rhythm. From rooftop concerts that echo into the night to glittering galas, art-filled corridors, and unforgettable weddings, Cinnamon Life has redefined how Colombo celebrates. It is where ideas meet art, where laughter lingers, and where the spirit of the city feels most alive.

To mark its first anniversary, Cinnamon Life invites guests to indulge in a series of celebratory experiences across its restaurants and bars, a fitting toast to an unforgettable year.

Guests can collect stamps on their Cinnamon Life Passport, available with a minimum spend of Rs. 10,000 at any of their specialty restaurants, and stand a chance to win a complimentary Ruby Membership.

The celebrations continue at Gatz, with live performances by Colombo’s favourite local bands every weekend, while Sweet Labs introduces a limited-edition range of anniversary chocolates, featuring Ambarella Green, Ceylon Black Tea and Cardamom Milk, and Jackfruit and Black Pepper Dark varieties.

But Cinnamon Life’s story isn’t just about luxury, it’s about legacy. Home to Colombo’s largest art collection, the property celebrates over 1,000 pieces created by 687 Sri Lankan artists, turning every hallway into a gallery of imagination. From the Meeting in the Sky Kites Festival to Sri Lanka’s first Sotheby’s auction and the World Press Photo Exhibition, Cinnamon Life has become the creative soul of Colombo — where art, culture, and hospitality collide.

The past year also marked a historic milestone, as Cinnamon Life joined forces with Melco Resorts & Entertainment to become part of the City of Dreams portfolio — placing Colombo alongside global destinations like Macau, Manila, and Cyprus. With the addition of The Shoppes, an elevated luxury retail experience, the resort has cemented its place as South Asia’s first fully integrated resort city — a destination where hospitality, retail, entertainment, and gaming come together in dazzling harmony.

Reflecting on the milestone, Sanjiv Hulugalle, General Manager and CEO of Cinnamon Life at City of Dreams said, “This first year has been about bringing a dream to life — creating a space that captures Colombo’s creative spirit while welcoming the world to experience it. As we celebrate this milestone, our hearts are full of gratitude to our guests, partners, and team. Together, we’ve built more than a destination; we’ve built a living, breathing city of connection, celebration, and endless possibilities.”

As Cinnamon Life at City of Dreams steps into its next chapter, it continues to define Colombo’s tomorrow — shaping not just its skyline, but also its story, its spirit, and its future.
