Cinnamon Lakeside Colombo commemorated Poson by screening the film ‘Sri Siddhartha Gautama’ to around 600 guests and staff members, highlighting themes of peace, life, and cultural heritage.

The event is organized to promote the values of Poson week and to share the message of peace.

On Friday, Cinnamon Lakeside welcomed Gagan Malik, the film’s lead actor, and Light of Asia Foundation Chairman Navin Gooneratne who donated the film for free viewing by the hotel community.

The movie depicts the life of Prince Siddhartha before his religious awakening. It is about a life of a prince, pre religious times.

Speaking to Mirror Business, Cinnamon Lakeside General Manager Nazoomi Azhar noted that the film is not intended to promote any religious movement but to present Buddhism as a way of life accessible to all.

He also highlighted the film’s role in promoting Sri Lankan culture and Buddhist tourism, which is gaining global attention. The current screening marks the start of the film’s second phase, following its initial release

in 2014.

“As we move into promoting Sri Lankan culture, particularly Buddhist tourism, which is globally recognized, this serves as a strong entry point to showcase the film to our tourists,” he said at a meet and greet event held on Friday with actor Malik at Cinnamon Lakeside.

In addition to the Colombo screening, Sri Siddhartha Gautama will also be screened in Kandy and

Aluvihara, Matale.
