Canada this week became the latest country to relax its travel advisory against visiting Sri Lanka. Accordingly, the Canadian government updated the travel advice, moving Sri Lanka from the ‘orange’ list to the ‘yellow’ list.
The change indicates the decrease of overall risk level of travelling to Sri Lanka from ‘avoid non-essential travel’ to ‘exercise a high degree of caution’.
Sri Lanka is placed on the yellow list and not on the green list, as the economic crisis still persists in the country, where shortages of basic necessities, including fuel, food and medicines, still prevail.
In the latter part of August, several European countries, including France, Switzerland, the UK and Norway, relaxed their travel advisories on Sri Lanka.
