Browns marks 150 years with Rs.200mn dealer rewards

In an effort to honour the long-standing loyalty and performance of its key dealers across the island, Browns’ Battery and Tyre Strategic Business Unit (SBU) recently hosted a prestigious dealer appreciation ceremony at Galle Face Hotel. 

As part of an innovative dealer discount recognition programme that ran from December 2024 to March 2025, the Battery and Tyre SBU awarded over Rs.200 million in incentive cheques, the highest-ever payout by an automotive battery company in Sri Lanka, in keeping with the Browns group’s 150 anniversary celebrations and 101 years of Exide’s presence in the nation. 

As part of an overall campaign that rewarded over 290 dealers islandwide, representing Browns’ most successful sellers of the Exide, Lucas and Dagenite battery brands, the convention honoured 53 of the top performers who have been instrumental in championing some of the most trusted names in the local automotive market. 

From introducing Sri Lanka’s first automobile, Darracq Motorcar, in 1909, to being the sole agent for Goodyear’s All-Weather Tread Tyres and developing service infrastructure across Colombo, Hatton, Kandy and Nawalapitiya, Browns has consistently powered progress and mobility in Sri Lanka.

Adding to this historic moment, Exide marks 101 years in the Sri Lankan market since its introduction in 1924, with top delegates from Exide Industries visiting the country specially to mark the group’s 150-year anniversary celebration event in May.
