ASPI up for 12 straight sessions



Indices closed in green as a result of price gains in counters such as John Keells Holdings, Sampath Bank and Hatton National Bank with the turnover crossing Rs. 5.5 bn. 

High net worth and institutional investor participation was noted in People’s Leasing & Finance, Commercial Bank and Aitken Spence. 

Mixed interest was observed in Hemas Holdings, Lanka Milk Foods and LB Finance whilst retail interest was noted in Browns Investments, Beruwala Resorts and Singhe Hospitals. 

Foreign participation in the market activity remained at subdued levels with foreigners closing as net buyers. 

Capital Goods sector was the top contributor to the market turnover (due to John Keells Holdings and Hemas Holdings) whilst the sector index gained 1.21%. The share price of John Keells Holdings moved up by Rs. 0.40 (1.87%) to close at Rs. 21.80. The share price of Hemas Holdings recorded a gain of Rs. 0.20 (0.67%) to close at Rs. 29.90. 

Diversified Financials sector was the second highest contributor to the market turnover (due to People’s Leasing & Finance) whilst the sector index increased by 0.21%. The share price of People’s Leasing & Finance increased by Rs. 0.10 (0.53%) to close at Rs. 18.80. Browns Investments and Lanka Milk Foods were also included amongst the top turnover contributors. 

The share price of Browns Investments gained Rs. 0.20 (2.44%) to close at Rs. 8.40. The share price of Lanka Milk Foods appreciated by Rs. 2.30 (4.60%) to close at Rs. 52.30.
