Sixteen Sri Lankan apparel companies, including 12 small and medium enterprises (SMEs), will be promoting local apparel products at the UK’s Source Fashion Exhibition this month.

The exhibition, which will be held from January 13-15 in London, UK, is one of the UK’s leading sourcing platforms.

It attracts more than 1,000 British and European retailers and buyers annually, including top brands like Tesco, ASOS and John Lewis.

New trade openings under the UK’s Developing Countries Trading Scheme, will allow Sri Lankan apparel exporters to showcase quality products and build partnerships across the UK and Europe.

According to the Export Development Board (EDB), the Sri Lankan pavilion will highlight manufacturers and designers offering high-quality, ethically produced collections, with a strong focus on transparency, innovation and long-term partnerships.

Moreover, the Sri Lankan pavilion under the theme ‘Sourcing Sri Lankan Apparel and Textiles - Where Sustainable Business Meets Innovation’, aims to provide attendees with the opportunities to meet the people behind the product, explore new sourcing opportunities and connect with suppliers committed to sustainability, reliability and trust.

Sri Lankan apparel exporters will also take part in the Source Fashion Catwalk and a panel discussion on the theme ‘Intelligent Fashion – Using AI to Design, Plan and Produce Better’, on the first day of the exhibition.

The panel discussion will explore how technology is transforming the fashion value chain, from digital twins and smart circularity to compliance software and predictive design.

It will highlight how artificial intelligence can support responsible planning, reduce waste and redefine ‘intelligent fashion’ in a world that demands both speed and sustainability.

Sri Lanka’s participation at Source Fashion Exhibition is organised by the EDB and Sri Lanka High Commission in the UK.

The local participants at the Source Fashion Exhibition are Star Garments Group, Insomnia, J K Garments (Pvt.) Ltd, New Universe Clothing SL, Protector Clothing Manufacturers, Janasri Mills, Pridemo Apparel, Senvin Collection, True Digital Printing, Concord Manufacturing, Kobithan Garments, Hayleys free Zone Ltd, JAS Activewear, Krisherert Holdings, Jia Moda, Randhi International, Creative Sri Lanka and the EDB.

The 2025 edition of the exhibition recorded a 51 percent increase in visitors compared to the year before and reached more than 3,200 attendees, with 95 percent of the attendees holding sole or joint purchasing power.

Exhibitors from 22 countries, including China, India, Turkey, Portugal and the UK, participated.

Every year, the exhibition brings together brands, buyers, manufacturers and suppliers, while supporting ethical sourcing, responsible sourcing and supply chain transparency.

The product and category exhibits at this year’s showcase will include clothing and apparel production pathways, focused fashion capabilities, materials and trims and sampling to production readiness.
