The organizers of the Akon concert, in a press release, said they are in the process of “restructuring” the Superfest 2010 concert scheduled to be held in Sri Lanka next month and will refund in full for those who do not wish to attend the event which may be minus Grammy nominated singer Akon.

A release by Platinum Entertainment said that if the government continues to refuse permission for the main artiste, Akon, to perform at the concert scheduled for April 24 then the concert may go ahead with the other performers, although the release did not name who they are.

“Those who have purchased the tickets for Superfest 2010 Sri Lanka concert will be refunded fully if the purchaser of the ticket is not willing to be part of the concert without the main artiste,” the release said.

The organizers also said they have scheduled a concert to be held in the Maldives on April 23rd but did not mention if Akon will perform in the event his visa to Sri Lanka continues to be rejected. (Daily Mirror online)

Many westerners use buddha statues for decorative purposes of homes and gardens. What is the stand of the Sri Lankans on this issue? Ask the Sinhala buddhists of these cities to take to the streets of the major cities of the world.

not necessarily! we denied visa to Dalai Lama to please the Chinese regime! Why are the Buddhist monks involved in the racial politics of GoSL? They should actually take care of the spiritual life of the human being and not the worldly and the material life. Actually we are nothing other than puppets of the politics.

Ok here is the deal, as long as u all have shown the anger and unhappiness about Akon’s one Video. Now we’ll tell him to apologies once more time and we’ll let him to come and show his performance. That’s good..

    Tuesday, 30 March 2010 02:52 PM

I've yet to see a news report calling us buddhist fundamentalists....but its not the foreigners who call us out like that...its always the locals who do it first! sad isnt it?

    Tuesday, 30 March 2010 03:55 PM

The world once branded Prabhakaran also as a hero. The same world can do the same mistake. Do not worry so long as we are doing the right thing for the long term betterment of the people at large.

    Tuesday, 30 March 2010 04:01 PM

    Tuesday, 30 March 2010 05:14 PM

Loard Buddha didn't 'make a religion.' He preached a philosophy!

    Tuesday, 30 March 2010 07:29 PM

Bye-bye Akon! We won't miss you.

    Tuesday, 30 March 2010 07:41 PM

This type of big musical show is not necessary for Sri Lanka, at this time, as there are thousands of war affected people, children, women (some even handicapped), still suffering in detention camps, in one part of the country, without proper food & medicines.

    Tuesday, 30 March 2010 08:07 PM

We Sri Lankans, of diverse religions, must protect our cultural heritage.
