"I will not accept any post as a national list MP from any political party," Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka (PUCSL) Chairman Janaka Rathnayaka said.
He told the Daily Mirror that the statement by the minister is the best example of a typical Sri Lankan politician.
Rathnayaka condemned the statement made by Power and Energy Minister Kanchana Wijesekera today in parliament, claiming that he is to be sworn in as a national list MP from a certain political party.
"They only work for people because they have a hidden agenda. But I work for the people with a genuine intention, which they cannot even believe," he said.
He explained that politicians work for people for their benefit and said that he did not. (Chaturanga Pradeep Samarawickrama)

What a ridiculous statement that has been made by you, if you take all big or medium size scale businessman in Sri Lanka they all help all politicians lol. It's standard. That doesn't mean that they take them as kings, some people just want to help out how they can. Stop throwing rocks at someone that tries to come and solve problems that the political hierarchy has created

Everyone has good and bad. No body is perfect in the world. But he is a gentleman who cares the public but not the power or money hunger. He still stands in his instincts and not low class and corrupted, bribe politician like Kanchana. Russian qualification or UK qualification is not a matter here. He has more cable to do his job. I hope the public will stand his side and still we hope that he wont be a cheap politician. Sir please find way to reduce our bills. Because Kanchana is getting more commissions. We as public will not pay the bills until it get reduced even if we use candles

Manjula - Kanchana has been a greater supporter of the kings. And I cannot understand you disparagingly comment on a Russian University which are world class and better than many of ours - especially in discipline.

This man chose to go on a private overseas trip for weeks right in the midst of a major crisis that he was an integral part of which delayed resolving a key issue that was holding back delivering on a clear IMF precondition. If it isn't politics to frustrate and sabotage the finalization of the IMF deal what was it? Certainly not for the love of the people.
