Two-time champions West Indies will not take part in the Cricket World Cup for the first time in its history, after being eliminated from contention following their seven-wicket defeat to Scotland in their Super Six qualifier match in Harare, Zimbabwe.

A seventh-wicket partnership between Jason Holder and Romario Shepherd appeared to have the Windies innings back on tracak, before Shepherd was caught out for 36.

Holder followed without another run being added, the innings wrapped up 23 runs later.

Scottish all-rounder Brandon McMullen accounted for the Windies top three, finishing with figures of 3 for 32, and then played a crucial knock of 69 as Scotland chased down the target.

He was part of a 125-run partnership with Matthew Cross, who top scored with 74, as the Scots chased down the target in 43.4 overs.

Can you imagine a world cup without them? Pathetic !

Better without never can improve anymore Indies Sunday, 02 July 2023 12:12 PM

Yes, easily. They were a good team 30 years ago, but cricket is much modernised now, and their approach is bygone. Even Afghanistan is improving faster than the now has been, not anymore good Wes Indies.

WI going through a similar issue to us but worse than us. They have to build the batting line up by getting in technically sound players rather than focusing on boundry clearing specialist. You cannot win odi cricket with just big hitters. You need players who can build innings. Once Nissanka and later on Dimuths inclusion only made it better for SL. So they too have to do that. Also get a good foreign coach. The local coaches will not work and they will make things worse.

WI don't deserve to be in the world Cup!! WI youth have other interests like basketball, soccer etc.
