Ven. Pallegama Hemarathana appointed new Atamasthanadhipathi

Chief Sanghanayake of Nuwara Kalaviya Ven, Pallegama Hemarathana Thera has been appointed as the Chief of Anuradhapura Atamasthana by the Atamasthana Working Committee.

Ven. Hemarathana Thera succeeds the Late Ven. Dr. Pallegama Sirisumana Dhammarakkitha Thera who passed away on October 18.

He is sheduled to assume his sacred duties on next Friday morning (11)

A series of religious activities will be held at the Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi on Friday morning to bless the prelate. He will be taken in procession to the nothern entrance of the Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi where he will appointed by the head of the Atamasthana Karaka Sabha Dr. Janaka Bulankulama by traditional handing in a tray of flowers. It was sad to note that the monk who died recently was very unpopular among the residents of Anuradapura due to his life style of living. It was alleged that he was having a relation ship with a women and he was having children too out of that association.
