US Ambassador to Sri Lanka, Julie Chung today said that they are deeply concerned about actions taken against protesters at Galle Face in the middle of the night.
In her official Twitter post, she said the US urges restraint by authorities and immediate access to medical attention for those injured.
A tense situation was reported at the Galle Face protest site near the Presidential Secretariat as police and troops moved in to remove protesters from the area. (Chaturanga Samarawickrama)

Western countries have one yard stick of human rights for Caucasians and another for the rest of the races. Why concern? No condemnation of this act by non-elected president and his military? This is the reason why dictators still exist even now and humans under go abuses.

Please check facts before statements as this is not a time to encourage law breakers. A court order was obtained informed to the protestors who continued to disregard court order. Security forces and authorities acted with restraint and enforced the court order by pushing them back to the designated protest site where gotagogama was originally l9cated.
