A minister and a state minister who went to inaugurate a cultural centre at Bamunakotuwa in Kurunegala were booed by a group of residents in the area today.
It was reported that the residents protested Minister Vidura Wickramanayake and State Minister D.B. Herath who attended the event to declare open the cultural centre.
However, despite the opposition, the ministers attended the event.
Local residents claimed that this cultural centre has been opened by several ministers on several occasions.
A large number of policemen were deployed at the location to beef up security.

Well come news, this should be continued with much vigor where ever these rouges visits. Wickramanayaka is one of the most disgraceful character in this parliament. When the 20 amendment was brought, this person who criticized it in public but voted for the amendment. He disregarded his sisters plea for not to vote for the amendment. He deserves this treatment. People of this country should thank for those participated in this matter.

What a waste of public funds on these unnecessary events held just to please the Politicians. All such events must be done away with. Save them the embarrassment and save the useless expenditure.

Is this the new beginning of a new culture? No doubt, the hungry masses will adopt this popular, harmless method of protest very fast. May be this is the reason, some politicians are reluctant to climb the stage. There are many more who deserve to get this honor.

This clearly illustrates what is expected of politicians in future governments. Unless politicians have a mindset to do service to the country and people and discard the idea of becoming quick rich - this will be their fate. You cannot expect an army to march of empty stomach equally you cannot ask for vote with public with empty stomach.
