Trafficking of Sri Lankan women to the Middle East will be brought into the notice of cabinet, Minister of Justice Wijedasa Rajapakshe told Parliament today.
“We have been receiving information on certain employment agents have been engaged in trafficking of Sri Lankan women. The matter will be referred to the Ministry of Foreign Employment and to the cabinet,” the Minister said.
The issue was raised by MPs Hector Appuharmy and Kavinda Jayawardene in the House. "Around 12 women have been taken to Abu Dhabi from there they have been taken to Oman where they have publicly auctioned and were sold them to be indulged sex trade. This has to be looked into pretty seriously,” MP Jayawardene said. (Yohan Perera)

Our sinhala Buddhist armed forces in the North and East were forcing women in sexual slavery this seems OK, But when Middle Eastern Muslim men do this to our Sinhala Buddhist women it becomes an issue

Cabinett should discuss a lot more when we need rapid economic revival, job creation, social safety net, getting education aligned to job market etc. making idiotic headlines on politically savvy news items should not be main news items.
