What has musical shows go to do with tourism and by this relaxation people will have to go to sleep after midnight during weekends.

This is only during some weekends. Let the young people have a ball. I too was young once and I support this idea. Good for tourism as well.

Is it only hospitals and religeos places. What about residential areas?

    GERIATRIC Tuesday, 20 June 2023 09:17 PM

SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED IN "PRIMARY RESIDENTIAL" AREAS WITHIN COLOMBO MUNICIPAL COUNCIL. WE ELDERS NEED TO HAVE THE RIGHT TO QUIET SLEEPING...

Tourists do not attend these shows. After 10pm you only see drunken people and druggies.

You've GOT to be kidding Harin! Obviously you haven't got babies or little toddlers or elderly people in your household. How do you expect them to fall asleep with this unholy racket going on? And what exactly is the point of excluding religious places? Who worships after 8pm anyway???? This is yet another harebrained decision by a politician who can't decide if he wants to promote tourism or support the entertainment industry. As they say "Only in Sri Lanka"!

Is this the type of dicks make the call on the trashy venues ? 10:00 PM is more than reasonable time, when you're an uncivilized filthy nation, don't advertise loud to the world.

This needs to be challenged in court. Residential areas need to protected. instead of night parties we need to promote more day parties.

It is fun for the music lovers otherwise extending it to 1 am will result in the nether world been active as they very well know that the arms of the law will not interfere as they have an alibi to a part of the fun loving music lovers.

The supreme court verdict clearly stipulates the noise levels applicable for such show and also stipulates the following; 1) Consent of all parties in the vicinity of the event 2) The adherence to the 65db upto 10pm and 55db after 10pm sound pollution laws 3) The issuing of the police permit requires the approval of the courts and adherence to 1) and 2) above 4) Continuous police presence during the event to ensure that 2) is maintained. Based on the sound levels specified there is no way they can have an event after 10pm within the stipulated volume limit.

The minister seems to believe loud noises in the name musical shows will give an impression that all’s well in the country. Can these be held is auditoriums or closed premises? Hospital OK why religious places? Gods have gone to sleep since long, but it is the spirits that are awake.
