Three precious gems taken to BOC safety locker under tight security

Three precious gems in the possession of the National Gem and Jewellery Authority were brought under tight security by the STF to be kept in the safety locker of the Bank of Ceylon.

It was decided to temporarily suspend all activities of the National Gem and Jewellery Authority in Kollupitiya due to the fact that the authority's building is in danger of collapsing.

However, on the instructions of State Minister Lohan Ratwatte, the National Gem and Jewellery Authority is currently functioning at the State Ministry premises in Narahenpita.

Accordingly, steps have been taken to safe keep the three precious gems in the safety lockers Bank of Ceylon until the new building of the authority is constructed.(DSB)
