Those who would participate in tomorrow’s protests should be considered traitors, an MP said today.
UNP MP Vajira Abeywardene told a media briefing that everyone who participates in tomorrow’s protest should be considered traitors as they will be playing a role in precipitating the country’s economic crisis.
“Sri Lanka has managed to achieve some kind of stability with prices of essential goods being reduced to some extent and the pickup of the tourism sector. However, the country may lose all these achievements with such protests,” he said.
“Some political groups have been misled by some international forces to further destabilize Sri Lanka,” he added.
“Sri Lanka will be consolidated in a year if the people manage to work intelligently and remain calm,” he said. (Yohan Perera)
Protests must go on for a better life for sri-lankan people, true that you have a luxuary life with cars and big house and 3 meals a day.

Uncle, we do not want some kind of stability accepted by a handful. We need sustainable stability and can be obtained only through a government with the backing of the majority of the people. The present president is not a “Janapathi”. He is a man elected by 134 clowns. The people participating will n tomorrow’s protest are patriotic, speak “Aragalaya “. We will all be there irrespective of religion, race or political affiliation.?

UNP is historically done wickedness. In 1949, the UNP government stripped the Indian Tamils who live here generations of their nationality, including their right to vote. UNP started the chain of action which led to several 100,000 Sri Lankans of Indian Tamil origin being deported to India by SLFP government Sirima-Shastri Pact of 1964 with India.

Vajira or whoever you are....by the way, who are you? What right do you have to select traitors or patriots? Get a peoples mandate first and then maintain it - otherwise, keep your comments to yourself as they make you look more silly. (for want of a better word)

And those who are cleaning the coffers and making millions in corrupt deals are true patriots. right? Please enjoy your short-lived luxurious life, you do not have a clue what people are going through in the rest of the country. As long as you have everything provided by the tax-payers money, anyone trying to beak that corrupt cycle, are terrorists and troublemakers. Get your brain checked first before uttering these comments.

to those who talk of mandate- Gota had a huge mandate why did you guys not allow him to run the country for the rest of his term. So no respect for peoples mandate- you guys have no moral right to ask for an election or be be governed by someone who has a mandate, since you do not respect peoples mandate
