A man broke into a Sri Lankan Buddhist temple in Adelaide and stole some of the money donated by worshipers.
This was the second time the same thief struck at two different Buddhist temples in South Australia.
CCTV footage showed the man walk into the Adelaide Sri Lanka Buddhist Vihara and walk out after committing the crime.
President of the Management Committee of the temple, Duminda Kottahachchi, told Daily Mirror the incident took place last Friday.
The man had walked into the temple on Friday and stole approximately ASD 3000 before making his escape.
The Chief incumbent of the temple, the Venerable Udagabbala Sumedha Thero, was in the temple when the crime was committed.
He heard a noise while in another room and walked out to find the donation box was broken and money had been stolen.
The same man had stolen money from another Buddhist temple in South Australia recently.
He had walked into the temple at Flinders Park and walked out with ASD 800 in donations.
The Director of that temple, Nawang Thubten, said that the temple depends on donations to operate.(Easwaran Rutnam)

Looks like Australia is also getting bad now like the rest of us. Some of them were the white supremist holier than thou bunch in many ways. Now this comment is to make commentor's realise how it feels when absurd comments are been made generalising a whole nation when one bad egg hits the news.
Temple did not clear the donated money out fast enough Monday, 29 May 2023 06:01 PM
What is the temple doing not clearing out the donated funds daily or eloquently. $3000 is too much to leave around to be stolen.

Must be Sri Lankan and must have been provided with directions to the donation box.

Rajapaksa , Any one of them in Adelaide these days .
A drug addict Tuesday, 30 May 2023 09:12 AM
He is not a big thief to be breaking into a Buddhist temple of all places . He must be only a drug addict looking for some cash to buy some drugs. This is only a petty offence not even considered worthwile media attention in Australia though it might be a lot of money by Sri Lankan standards
