The Gampola Police launched an investigation after a 14-year old girl died as a result of assault allegedly by her uncle and father.

According to the police, the girl's uncle had assaulted the girl after seeing her with her boyfriend last Sunday at the Mount Temple in Gampola.

Then on Tuesday morning, while the girl was sick and moaning in pain, the girl's father assaulted her saying that she would not let him sleep.

In Sri Lanka some people show their powers by attacking innocent kids and jump to conclusions, when they can sort out simple things such as relationship when they can openly discussing their concerns with their children. Violence and aggression is not an answer. To deter violence in our society they should be given maximum punishment.

It is the fault of government ... It does not take stern actions against all these thugs who kill their own children .. Where is all those child protection groups ? Why this is continuing in our country ? Why do not judge take some strict action . Put them into jail for some years so that others will learn a lesson . A child of 14 years to be killed like this in this country is not acceptable at all. Why ? If it is love affair let them have some advice from community leaders and experts . Some parents are stupid and they don't know how to deal with it and yet so called government officials do not know what to do with this and how to help them .

Men in Sri Lanka are very messed up in the way they think about women. My beautiful blond 16 years daughter got touched inappropriate by her buttock and breast in the crowd right front of the Sacred Tooth Relic. This happened in 2015, but she (and we) will never forget.

This kid doesn't deserve this. Specially a father like that. More actions should be implemented to protect those vulnerable. May the soul shall Rest In Peace
