Sri Lanka’s Women’s team captain Chamari Athapaththu and Harshitha Samarawickrama have been nominated for the Women's International Cricket Council (ICC) Player of the Month Award for May.
Both batters were in excellent form during the recent home series in Bangladesh when Athapaththu scored 103 runs at a strike rate of 132 in the a three-match T20I series after scoring a half-century in one of ODIs.
Samarawickrama, meanwhile, made an unbeaten 45 in the final ODI against Bangladesh with scores of 45, 29* and 51* in the three T20I matches between the teams.
Thailand's 19-year old Thipatcha Putthawong, a left-arm orthodox spinner, was also nominated having excelled in her country's gold medal winning South East Asia games campaign.
She claimed 11 wickets in the tournament at an average of 1.54, conceding just 17 runs in 15.3 overs.
Her best figures at the South East Asian games came against Phillipines, where she took 4 for 3, with hauls of 3 for 3 and 3 for 2 against Malyasia and Myanmar respecitvely.
