Sri Lanka needs coordinated assistance, global financial institutions agree

Sri Lanka needs a coordinated assistance programme supported by multilateral financial institutions, representatives of the World Bank, Asian Development Bank, International Monetary Fund and Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank agreed after meeting President Ranil Wickremesinghe today.

They reached the agreement following a lengthy round table discussion held in Colombo where the President Wickremesinghe presented Sri Lanka’s development programme for economic recovery and long term development.

The meeting was attended by Vice President of the World Bank Martin Raiser, Vice President of the Asian Development Bank Shixin Chen, IMF’s Senior Mission Chief Peter Breuer and Dr. Urjit Patel of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank along with several other senior officials.

Also present at the event were Prime Minister Dinesh Gunawardene, Minister of Foreign Affairs Ali Sabri, Minister of Power and Energy Kanchana Wijesekera, Finance State Minister Ranjith Siyambalapitiya, Investment Promotion State Minister Dilum Amunugama, Governor of the Central Bank Dr. Nandalal Weerasinghe and former Central Bank Governor Dr. Indrajith Coomaraswamy.

All future lenders, please ensure that all projects are properly evaluated and audit before releasing any funds. At the same time continuous independent ongoing auditing a must to avoid any future defaults by perturb generations to come.

If you want to SAVE our nation, please, REJECT the IMF support-fund which they won't give us, but they keep them as a TOOL to DESTABILIZE our United Sri Lanka concept and work to force Ranil administration to SPLIT the country for TAMIL EELAM.

SL don't deserve any financial assistance as long as the present bunch of Politicians in charge of power!! The president resigned but this incapable man running the country!! Due to the Mockery of our constitution !! SO should hold general elections ASAP!! 80% of the 225 been MP's for over 20 years!! The 225 currupt to the core!! Entire parliament members responsible for Bankrupting SL !!

Whatever assistance to SL by International Agencies, coordinated or otherwise, should be ruthlessly checked and audited. This is because the plunderers who brought the country to this critical state are still in command and are running the show.
