The members of the newly formed Cricket Technical Consultative Committee met the Sports Minister Roshan Ranasinghe on Thursday, it is learnt.

According to highly-placed sources in the ministry, the Minister Roshan Ranasinghe had invited all five members, Sanath Jayasuriya (Chairman of the committee), Farveez Maharoof, Charith Senanayake, Asantha de Mel and Kapila Wijegunawardene to the meeting,

"The meeting is being held to understand what the newly formed committee has in mind, what their plans are to take the game forward, particularly, when the team has to play the qualifying round matches (in Zimbabwe) for the World Cup," one of the ministry sources confirmed before the meeting began.

In fact, Thursday's meeting was also to brief the Minister about the meeting they had with the SLC officials and what transpired in the meeting earlier this week.

Thursday's meeting is the third by the committee, which was formed in April.

The committee will directly provide their suggestions to the ministry and provide their roadmap ahead.

It will, however, be up to the Minister to ensure that the right suggestions are implemented by the Sri Lanka Cricket board.

The members of the committee declined to comment. By: Bipin Dani

The game and the standard of cricket is declining and going backwards!! Bumpy road ahead. Biggest obstacle to improve standard of Lankan cricket is SLC. Get rid of BOOKIEEMAN'S ගෝලයා the TAXI DRIVER'S SON!!

Obviously since the current Executives took over SLC, there has been a steady decline of the standard of Sri Lankan cricket. This decline started with the increase of the number of First Division teams to 26, when all other countries have far fewer numbers. which was done to get votes when elections are held. There is corruption and other reasons pointed out by this reader and other readers and the Inquiry Committee appointed by the Minister. SLC uses its enormous of amount of revenue to bribe voters and to take legal actions to avoid any action by honest Minister.

No test greats in the committee other than the dasher Sanath. Why Aravinda has been dropped? Test cricket what matters though commercially not lucrative for the SLC.

When the Minister is trying to minimize corruption by SLC, it has been conducting a misinformation campaign showing the ICC that there is political interference. The Minister must request ICC to give an audience to him and explain ICC about this non-existing political interference which is conducted by SLC to cover its corruption and wrong deeds.

Just to give you an idea how powerful the SLC office bearers, namely the bookieman, in 2002 he completed a landslide victory against Arjuna Ranatunga, claiming 121 of the 138 votes cast by registered clubs and associations. Ranatunga managed just seven VOTES and was pushed to third place in the three-cornered fight and the rest of the votes went to, at that time sitting president CBK's uncle Clifford Ratwatte. To add insult to injury, even Arjun's own club, Sinhalese Sports Club decided to support the bookieman. Ironic Huh, this gives you an idea how powerful he is. He single handedly destroyed the game of cricket by increasing the number of first class clubs and his vote base, this establishing his ironfist authority of the game of cricket in SL. With personal ambitions of Heading International Cricket Conference (ICC). It's like dog chasing a Car, we all know even dog stop the car he can't drive!!

The four demoted clubs are playing in an invitational tournament in all three formats meeting each team twice. The Chairman of the Tournament Committee wanted the demoted teams to play in the Governor's Trophy which was approved by the club's at an EGM and the same Chairman got the Exco to approve a seperate tournament for the demoted clubs over ruling the general clubs decision
