Some political parties today informed the Election Commission that conducting the Local Government polls on April 25, considering the present situation was not possible.
In a statement, the Election Commission said following a discussion with the secretaries of the political parties, some of the parties proposed the LG Polls be held at a later date.
However, during the discussions, some opposition political parties present said the Polls should not be postponed further in any way due to the Supreme Court ruling.
The parties proposed that if a new date is being considered, all parties, the Legislature and the Executive should be in agreement.
The Election Commission further said it had decided not to hold postal voting for the Local Government Elections scheduled for March 28, 29, 30, 31 & April 03 and the new date for the elections will be decided later. (Darshana Sanjeewa Balasuriya)

The President and Parliament are now to choose when Elections will be held. The requirements of the Constitution and law all thrown out. The Buddhist leaders are responsible for this after they demanded no implementing the 13A to the Constitution. After that no law need be respected by the government.

When even the Attorney General is not coming forward to defend constitutional requirements , there is no end or limit as to how much rape of the Justice system the loony Ranil and clique can inflict . The constitution will be dead for all intent s and purpose s.
