A soldier was killed after being attacked by a wild elephant while an army team was engaged in a training exercise in Valamandiya forest area of Aralagangwila yesterday.
Police said the deceased was a 19-year old apprentice soldier who was undergoing training at the Maduruoya Army Special Forces Training School.
He was seriously injured in the attack and died after being admitted to Aralagangwila hospital.
The victim is a resident of Ambagasduwa.
The Aralagangwila Police is conducting further investigations.
