A Sergeant of the Police Special Task Force (STF) drowned and two other personnel were rescued when they fell into the ZD Canal at Maduru Oya in Polonnaruwa today.
Police said a Civil Security officer who was passing by, jumped into the canal and managed to save the lives of the two Special Task Force personnel.
Police said the STF personnel who were travelling in a tractor from Medagama to Bogaswewa had fallen into the canal after the vehicle skidded off the road.
Aralagangwila Police who are conducting the investigation said that the person who died in the accident was identified as Dhammika Bandara, a police sergeant driver of Aralaganwila Special Task Force camp. (Nimal Jayarathna Manampitiya)

Good! Less burden on the staring public of Sri Lanka who is heaped with indirect taxes to maintain these fellows. The duty of these fellows is to protect the corrupt politicians. We saw how they attacked the Aragalaya .

are y'all even human to celebrate another mans death ? is this what Aragalaya or revolution stand for ? No respect for human life ? They were just doing their job , you Have a choice and they dont because they need to feed their families... and this is an accident and you celebrate this?? such a shame over these comments we sympathizes with the passed officers family
