    Not good news

I am NOT trying to be cynical. Is this a news item? Landing and takeoff of planes and passenger and cargo handling are the NORMAL operations of an airport. But for Mattala airport, the arrival of an aircraft creates a news sensation!!!

How long will it last? Three months! Whipping a dead horse. Just close it up and expand Ratmalana.

Why in earth has the minister gone all the way there? He will have spent more than these tourists will.

    Good news.

I think it is time to put to rest this traditional Kandyan Dance welcome ceremony. It is a noisy irritating turn-off to everyone to say the least. The last thing you want to listen to after a long-haul flight.

Last heard there was no transportation to come out of the airport. Tourists stranded. Minister was giving them company. Some said he was ogling the whites. Night will bring further challenge as the gensets will only run a few hours before running out of fuel.

Oh tourists from Russia and on this very day Russia shells a maternity hospital in Ukraine

Agree with Sam why the minister should go to airport. Further the minister's expenses on this wasteful trip was met from the income tax paid by citizens . For me, none of the ministers are realizing their salary and expenses are paid by citizens. Current culture of irresponsible behaviors should change. Newspapers should play an important role to educate government officials
