The Unawatuna Tourist Police are still investigating to apprehend a suspect who is evading arrest over stealing foreign currency valued at more than Rs. 6 million from a group of Russian tourists who were lodging at the Watergate Hotel in Unwatuna.
Earlier, the police arrested the hotel owner, his son and another individual over the incident.
Police said the suspects had allegedly stolen cash Rs. 752,772, US$ 61,000, Ruble 195,000 and €200 from a Russian woman and two others who were staying in the hotel.
The police released a photograph of the suspect, Walpita Gamage Chandana Saman Kumara, a 40-year-old villager from Ellagawa in Nakiyadeniya, seeking public assistance to locate him.
The police requested public to contact OIC of the Unawatuna Tourist Police through 0768477810 if they have any information on the suspect.
