Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe has sent a reply letter to SJB MPs Harin Fernando and Manusha Nanayakkara over the letter sent by them yesterday with regard to several questions before deciding how to support the new Government.
The MPs sent a letter expecting answers for seven questions including about President Gotabaya Rajapaksa’ resignation, legal action against attackers of “GotaGoGama” and the Easter attacks, 21st Amendment to the Constitution, release of Ranjan Ramanayakae and Parliamentary election.
In response to the matter of resignation of the President, the Prime Minister said that he will hold discussions with the party leaders over the matter and he will agree to a decision by majority of parliament.
The Prime MInister said that a special committee headed by Wijayadasa Rajapaksa has been appointed over the 21st Amendment to the Constitution and he will take action to get the amendment passed soon.
Bringing those responsible for the Easter attack to justice, the PM said steps will be taken to obtain the assistance of foreign experts into the investigations if necessary.
In reply to Ranjan Ramanayake, Mr. Wickremesinghe said he hopes to send a team of experts to present facts in this regard to the Supreme Court.
The Prime Minister said he has no objection to holding parliamentary elections as soon as the country is established. However, before that, we need to work hard and collectively in the coming months to bring the country to a stable level, he said.
The PM added he looks forward to both MPs' support in establishing a new government. (DSB)

The answer given re President's resignation is vague and is as good as no answer ! Ranil wants to be PM with Gota as President till end of term.

Slippery Ranil is vague as usual - skirting the problem but no direct answer.

Gota should resign on his own or account of peoples' suffering due to fertiliser policy and delay in approaching IMF, misguided by Basil and Cabraal.
