Presently, Sri Lankan MBBS certificate along with their internship is not recognized in any country in the world unless they complete postgraduate studies to obtain MD or MRCP/FRACP from developed countries, usually a small percentage of doctors only manage to achieve higher qualifications. Why the government is trying to produce more half-baked doctors through fake private institutions? According to the International Federation of Medical Education, the institution which conducts Medical and Physiotherapy Education must be affiliated to a teaching Hospital or group of hospitals which has got all the major specialist departments, similar to National Hospital Colombo, for all the undergraduates to undergo clinical training from the inception of their studies.
