Questions have been raised over a number of individuals employed by Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) at District and Provincial level, who simultaneously hold positions of officer-bearers at Provincial Cricket Associations, District Cricket Associations and Clubs which have voting rights at SLC elections.

Some of the individuals include those from the Hambantota, Galle, Matara, Kandy, Monaragala and Matale District Cricket Associations.

The individuals is question receive salaries which come through SLC, and it being a conflict of interest for office bearers of vote-entitled associations has been suggested.

SLC, however, did not believe that the situation at hand posed any threat to the integrity of the voting process, with Secretary Mohan De Silva stating that they take adequate preventive measure to ensure that employees drawing salaries are not involved in the voting process and are not entertained at Annual General Meetings.

However, it has been called into question whether SLC’s constitution supports its staff members being able to hold office in other associations which possess voting rights and whether such an arrangement impairs the objectivity of the voting clubs and associations.

SLC is a place that is corrupted to the core. Everybody knows it except the ICC.

Social media activists and TV channels that hosts political debates should have a programme with SLC officials about the extent of corruption and nepotism if people knew the true extent of SLC corruption they would have stormed SLC HQ long before they did the other places

This is absurd. Are they bribing the relevant ICC officers too? How come they carry on such a corrupted show?

If Lankan cricket standard to improve then SLC should be run by competent INTERIM COMMITTEE. THE ELECTIONS WILL ONLY BRING IN PEOPLE LIKE TAXI DRIVER'S SON, BOOKIEEMAN, AND MUDALALI'S SONS. THEY ONLY WANT TO HOLD THE TITLES NOT DOING ANYTHING TANGIBLE TO IMPROVE THE STANDARD OF THE GAME IN SL.

Sri Lankan ODI Cricket Team and T20 Cricket Team will have to go through qualifying rounds playing against teams such as Papua New Guinea, UAE and Namibia etc and in Test Super League SL Team is at 9th position. SLC practices worst form of corruption by paying bribes disguised as salaries for persons who have voting rights in the election for Executive Committee. Ministry of Sports must inform ICC about it. The Minister of Sports must dissolve this corrupt and worst performing cricket authority in the world immediately and hold election for Executive Committee under revised Constitution.

Office bearers and their cronies must be stripped of voting rights Thursday, 30 March 2023 08:39 PM

The office bearers will expect higher salaries and PAYE exempt allowances for their votes. Even if they let someone else vote on their behalf they can instruct them to vote so at to elect the ones who will give maximum benefit. It is totally wrong that those with voting rights have financial benefits from SLC in personal capacity. Taking up office worker roles must mean they completely lose the rights (including the organization they came from).
