A large group of individuals are currently staging a protest on the Pengiriwatte Road near the private residence of President Gotabaya Rajapaksa in Mirihana over the government’s failure to address the existing issues in the country.

Security has been tightened around the residence due to the protest while army personnel have also been deployed to the location.

Moreover, roadblocks have been set up preventing protestors from marching towards the residence.

Protests are also ongoing at several other areas in Colombo as well.

Meanwhile, a traffic congestion has also been reported around the area. (Darshana Sanjeewa Balasuriya and Sheain Fernandopulle)
