The shortage of printing papers and printing equipment in the local market has hampered printing of final term examination papers in the Western Province (WP), the Ceylon Teachers' Union (CTU) said.
CTU General Secretary Joseph Stalin told the Daily Mirror that WP Educational Directors do not care about the final school term tests.
The WP Provincial Educational Director has advised all schools to print the examination papers for grades 6, 7 and 8 term tests at the expense of the schools, Stalin said.
He said the prices of printing papers and printing costs have increased by two folds due to the shortage of printing accessories and papers in the market.
"The provincial education directors should work responsibly when giving the Compact Disk (CD) which contains the examination papers to get printed from outside," he said. (Chaturanga Samarawickrama)
