President Ranil Wickremesinghe met the United Nations Secretary-General, António Guterres in Egypt, Cairo where he briefed the Secretary-General on the Government's plans on the National Environmental Policy.
The Secretary General recalled memories of his first visit to Sri Lanka in 1978, President Media Division (PMD) said.
The President left the island this morning (06) for Egypt to attend the UN Climate Change Conference COP 27.
He was accompanied by Minister of Environment, Naseer Ahamed, Senior Advisor to the President on Climate Change Ruwan Wijewardene, President’s International Affairs Director Dinouk Colombage and President’s Private Secretary Sandra Perera.

What is the governments plan ? I am from the East and have not seen any policy implemented nor discussed. All “ boru” show to please the UN. All of you enjoy your holidays. Good food, even alcohol served plenty, any other additional favours provided ??

There is no practical purpose in the UN. It only serves to pay hefty salaries to all it’s employees. Ever since it’s creation we have had scores of wars, genocides, famines ..the list goes on, what role it played to stop them ? None. In 1987, as a young undergraduate in London, I contacted the UN office in London and told them about the reports coming of mass killings of Tamil civilians going on in Jaffna by the Indian Army and told them to inform the UN Secretary General to immediately make a public warning to India to stop the ongoing Tamil massacres. But the UN officials in London totally refused to accept my desperate pleas .

UN has become a law unto itself. There are continuous criticisms against it’s staff members but no action is being taken. For example the black guy put in charge of WHO is rumoured to be giving jobs to beautiful Asian female doctors and then pressurising them to have sex with him.
