Even though the Federation of University Teachers' Associations (FUTA) had requested the President for a discussion regarding the issues relating to the scrutiny of 2022 (2023) GCE Advanced Level (A/L) answer scripts, the President has left the country even without giving them an appointment for a discussion, the Ceylon Teachers' Union (CTU) said.

Addressing the media, CTU General Secretary Joseph Stalin said that the issues relating to the scrutiny of A/L answer scripts have gone from bad to worse.

"The FUTA had requested the discussion a week before. Leaving the country without having had a discussion is not fair. It is a question of who is responsible for the disruption of the scrutiny of A/L answer scripts," he said.

Therefore, the FUTA must take a stern decision in this regard. This shows that this government does not want to provide any solutions to the said issue. This also shows that this government does not want to provide solutions to the demands by the FUTA, Stalin added. (Chaturanga Pradeep Samarawickrama)

Privatize all government universities and sack these monkey professors. Give a student loan or scholarship to deserving students only (similar to Australia).

So the FUTA expects everyone, students, teachers, ministers, president included to dance to their time do they? Must be a very special species indeed.

Yes you are quite right, It seems clearly, the Government will never consider any FUTILE demands. Therefore, you'd better resign the post to pave the way for talented person to take over the position that you hold in vain.

Ranil may have thought that nobody should stand in the way of his having an enjoyable trip abroad without any irking issues in his mind.So who cares for the FUTA ?

This man does not have even a proper Sri Lankan name. Instead he has got the name of a Russian Dictator who killed millions of his own country men.

Now this Adolph Joseph Stalin Hitler is trying to place the blame for disruption on the president. Is it the president or this unholy alliance of teachers' union and FUTA that delayed marking of answer scripts by two months? FUTA's demand was unreasonable. They themselves realised that they have no leg to stand on and decided to stop their unreasonable and selfish strike. And childishly wanted a meeting with the president to announce the decision. Why? Why not send a letter? Why delay going back to work? You can ask for a meeting and in the interim go back to work. In the announcement FUTA stressed that they want the meeting just to announce their decision: Not to negotiate. Very childish behaviour and our friend J Stalin says the fault lies with the president!

Who cares about AL paper marking? Attending th king Charles coronation is the most important event in the presidents life. Please remember he took the presidency as a favour to the people of SL. So please be grateful to his majesty.

Long live our Queen Friday, 05 May 2023 08:26 AM

As SL is a colony of Great Brittain, the president is obligated to attend monumental events such as deaths, coronations, marriages, divorces, tea parties etc. It is disrespectful if subordinates like our president does not attend.

Tinpot president and his royal mania Friday, 05 May 2023 08:35 AM

President of the country is just an ceremonial position. He is there to attend events like coronations, fancy dress parties etc. Let the true leader Basil run the country.

It seems the President will carry on having his own way, regardless of pleas and protests all around him. Unions come blazing on all cylinders and then give in meekly as the President ignores them regularly . Same goes for the threats of NPP and SJB regarding the LG elections. So far Ranil has held his ground.
