A 42-year-old woman, a domestic worker at popular tele drama producer and business personality Sudharma Nethicumara's house who was taken into custody over alleged theft, has died while undergoing treatment at the Colombo National Hospital.
Police said the woman was handed over to the Welikada Police on May 11 by the residents following a complaint by Sudharma Nethicumara that a gold ring had been stolen by the domestic helper from the residence.
However, the female helper, a resident of Badulla was admitted to the hospital after she complained to the police about a pain after she was handed over by the residents, the police said. Police further said that when the owners had brought her to the police station, the female helper was suffering and had been finding it difficult to breathe which is why she was rushed to hospital.
Police said the woman had died the following day while undergoing treatment.
The Welikada Police are investigating the incident and what resulted in her sudden death.

What is the delay in arresting Sudharma Nethicumara?

Powerful personalities do not GET ARRESTED. Whatever happens, the Netticumara's will never get arrested. The law and judiciary is ONLY for the Rich, famous and VIP, not for you and me. Remember all the high profile cases in the news earlier, what has happened to them ? A complete blank even from the Media of all mediums. They are all politicized and we citizens only learn what THEY WANT US TO KNOW. Then you and I are too busy with the struggles of life, and forget, about these incidents. The Police and everyone they protect , specially politicians know about this sickening Sri Lankan mentality, and make full use of this to just drag cases on , and we will very quickly forget everything.

There is an old English saying - "where there is money there is no justice". In Lanka where there is money, politicians, clergy, security personnel justice is tainted
