Those people who have been vaccinated with both the doses are still susceptible to get infected or succumb to virus until two weeks, the Health Ministry said today.

Health Promotion Bureau Director Dr. Ranjith Batuwanthudawa told media that there is a wrong perception in the society that those who have been administered with both to the doses are fully protected.

“There will be no protection for anyone who has got both shots until two weeks. He)she may still get infected or die of the virus during the period of two weeks,” he highlighted.

“However, it should be noted that after the period of two weeks, the recipients of both doses will get a shield against the virus but should act in such a manner that they would not spread the virus among others,” he added.

Meanwhile, Dr. Batuwanthudawa said nearly 90% of deaths and infections are of unvaccinated people and added only nine percent of of people who have received a single dose.

Thus, he urged people to continue with their health practices even after receiving COVID vaccine. (Sheain Fernandopulle)

These types of foolish statements will only hinder the vaccination process.

Not a foolish statement. This is sad reality. The chance of death will reduce with vaccinations. That's the conclusion.

Please check out Israel. Nearly 90 % are vaccinated. 60% of all cases in hospitals are vaccinated people. Even in serious condition.

You can still get the virus even after 2 weeks....I did so 1 month after 2nd dose Sinopharm. But the the vaccine helps to have only mild to no symptoms and in 7 days all was done.
