Mr. Bandula Gunawarardena, your argument seem reasonable concerning your house been torched. Look at the root cause of all these problems and who started the violence on April 9th. Constitutions, Governance, Parliaments and Elected Representatives are there to serve for the benefits of the peoples of Sri Lanka. One after the other UNP, SLFP, SLPP have only brought doom for the past many decades. That's why we are in this situation today. I hope it's still not too late to realize and sincerely work for the development of our Motherland, rather than still make it worse and destroy the youths and the future of our children. We Sri Lankans collectively have become like beggars and slaves to the International Community. I can only Feel Sad and Cry, nothing else.

It is a misnomer to say there is a ‘conspiracy to topple this government.’ There is an absolute and open need to change this government and the rotten to the core system that brings it about! Just last week, continuing and increasingly boldfaced irregularities in the award of tenders for the supply of coal and fuel were exposed! And Kamal Gune keeps reminding the press about responsible reportage being synonymous with reporting what is palatable! The financial discipline of tender procedures and the establishments code were probably made history from the times of the first president when a political culture that openly said ‘let the robber barons come’ was encouraged! That they did come, from both within and without, giving credence to a misguided ‘greed is good’ global thinking raises a crucial question about the truth of the present so called economic debacle of SriLanka! These knaves have mastered the art of misrepresenting numbers for so long …

Heshan and all detain in custody under the PTA is Uncontitutional. They are not terrorist. Sri Lankan economy already collapsed and destroyed by the Former president and and the SLPP cabinet. Not these students or Sri Lankan people. Now 99 percent people are in hunger due to former president and SLPP corruptions. Detaining people and disappearance or shootings responsible by the Sri Lanka CID and the Sri Lanka police very organizely do the crimes not any oneelse.. In a situation like this World should stop providing aids and money for a corrupted government. Sri Lankan people who live abroad should stop sending money to a corrupted government. Only solution is go to a election now.

You are talking as you all are saints, look at what has happened to this country under the rule of regimes you have represented. You all travel in vehicles which cost millions, live in luxuries ,very recently you all have allocated to your selves Rs 200000/ for fuel. People are suffering and finding extremely difficult to have a 1 square meal s day. Was this situation is created by the people of this country or you all who ruled them for years. You are talking of the values and virtues of the people on 9 may struggle with out talking of your friends in the parliament who created this mayhem. You talk of Amarakeerti s death but you are hiding the fact that the shooting occurred due the killing of a passer by motorcyclist by Amarakeerti’ s body guards. The whole scenario was instigated by your people in the parliament. Police are not going after them .The words you utter has no value as you too are responsible for this situation.just get lost your lies has no value any more.

We have been burning properties and killing people since independence with no prosecution for the perpetrators and no protection for the victims. Suddenly when our own houses are being burnt by own people it becomes a crime

Very good explanation from Hon. Minister Bandula Gunawardena. American lady Ambassador and few more western personalities seem to be sympathetic towards these law breaking individuals. They try to tell us what to do to protect citizens of Sri Lanka.

None of these protesters even remotely contemplated terrorism. All they were concerned about is reducing the mass scale corruption and mismanagement of this government. Using the heinous PTA to control a genuine and democratic struggle is a horrific abuse of power. Sri Lanka is doomed indeed.

Anura Nanayakkara - Are you on a different planet? Your dumb and idiotic heroes have created a hell hole, seen nowhere in the world except Zimbabwe and Haiti. Yet, for all the codswallop utterance by this thick Minister, it's a "very good explanation " to you. Over 25 people were gunned down in the high street and we don't hear much about chasing them. Instead, the government chases after protesters on the excuse they could be terrorists and a possible conspiracy to topple the government. Talking of toppling, the President has all the credentials to be toppled over, as he was not the people's choice. He is an illegitimate President. In fact people did NOT want his even as an MP. Only 25,000 people voted for him at the last general election.

My house was burnt during 1983 riots. I never got a single rupee as compensation from Government. The hooligans who torched and robbed my house were never arrested or punished. Is their two laws, one for Sinhalese Ministers and another for innocent Tamils?

Must be a fair system of justice. Those who instigated and attacked the peaceful protestors outside Temple Trees which sparked a spate of violence and loss to the Country too must be tried and jailed if found guilty..

For the country to come out of the present crisis we cannot continue with the anarchy situation which prevailed in the country last three months. We cannot allow the economic crisis to be given as an excuse to drag the country to further crisis which is the main objective of certain forces who cannot come to power through democratic process. While there were genuine elements and reasons to have started Aragalaya, subsequently there were many other forces which operated under the disguise of Aragalaya, and government has the right to investigate and take actions against such underlying forces to prevent continuation of such anarchy situation in the near future, until the country recover from present crisis. British woman who was on temporary visa in our soil, instigating violence and supporting Aragalaya was one such example.
