The Department of Immigration has introduced an online facility to foreign and local passengers to complete their arrival and departure cards beginning January 1, 2023.

Accordingly, the arrival cards for foreigners coming to Sri Lanka and the departure cards of Sri Lankans leaving the country will be checked through the new system.

As such, both air passengers will have the facility to fill out their cards online three days prior to their travel.

The Department requested the passengers visit their department's official web site at www.immigration.gov.lk or through the https://eservices.immigration.gov.lk web page.

Thereby, it enables the passengers to complete the immigration and emigration formalities without any inconvenience, the Department said. (Chaturanga Pradeep Samarawickrama)

Yet another system doomed to fail, just like the QR code system during the pandemic that required paper copies for limited staff to check the paperwork/emails etc. Surely this could be incorporated into the ETA visa process?

It will pave the way for others outside to earn money as charges becos all passengers are not literate enough to handle this

This is a good move, however, people arriving has to fill their arrival at the Airport as such Secure WiFi facilities should be available so that arriving passengers could use smart phones to complete the requirements. Back end process should be prompt rather than creating long queues

E-Passports, Digital Passenger Declarations and Biometric SmartGates were introduced to international airports decades ago. Sri Lanka always 10 to 20 years behind the developed world.
